In a blend of public service and cinematic passion, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has revealed her surprise cameo role in the highly anticipated Netflix sequel, Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul Awakens.

Dabiri-Erewa shared that she was personally invited by the film’s legendary director, Kunle Afolayan, to play the role of Iyalode. After initial hesitation and a consultative conversation with her husband, she accepted the offer.

Filming took place over two full days at Afolayan’s exclusive KAP Film Village and Resort in Igbonjaiye village for what appears as a short clip on screen. “That short clip took almost two full days to shoot,” Dabiri-Erewa noted, calling it “a true reminder of the dedication behind every scene.”

She used the experience to advocate for Nigeria’s creative sector, stating, “We honestly do not give our creative industry enough recognition and support for the immense work, discipline, and passion it deserves.”

The senior official also offered a strong endorsement of the filming location, praising the KAP resort as “one of a kind… one of the best, anywhere in the world,” linking Nollywood’s growth to tourism potential.

Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul Awakens, a follow-up to the 2022 phenomenon, is now streaming globally on Netflix.
