The road to Miss Universe 2025 has taken a dramatic turn after a tense on-camera confrontation in Thailand led Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, and several contestants—including the reigning Miss Universe—to walk out of a live event.

The incident occurred during a pre-pageant sash ceremony livestreamed on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page. According to multiple reports, Nawat Itsaragrisil, a Thai pageant executive, confronted Bosch for missing a sponsor-related photo session earlier that day. He pressed her to stand and explain her absence publicly, and at one point, he was heard referring to her as “dumb.” When Bosch objected, Nawat reportedly signaled for security to intervene.

What began as a tense exchange quickly escalated. Bosch exited the room—and soon, others followed. Those who joined the walkout included reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig, along with Miss Armenia, Miss Canada, Miss Palestine, Miss Bahamas, Miss Cape Verde, Miss Spain, Miss Belize, Miss Bolivia, and Miss Bulgaria.

Speaking afterward, Fátima Bosch expressed appreciation for the host country while condemning the behavior she faced. “I really love Thailand and I respect everyone here,” she said. “But what the director did was disrespectful. He called me ‘dumb’ because of his issues with the organization.”

The Miss Universe Organization has not yet issued an official statement, but the moment has already ignited global debate over contestant treatment, power dynamics in pageantry, and transparency within international competitions.
