In a pointed jab at his former party members, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared he feels vindicated by the recent exodus of leaders from PDP to the ruling APC.

Speaking at an event in Abuja, Wike sarcastically suggested he deserves praise from the very PDP figures who once accused him of undermining the party. He noted the irony that his most vocal critics are now abandoning the opposition to join the APC, effectively following a path they condemned him for. “They should commend me for doing a good job for them,” he remarked, framing their defections as an endorsement of his own political alignment.
Wike attributed this wave of political realignment to the current administration’s “visionary leadership,” which he claims has fundamentally improved state finances. Drawing from his own experience as a governor who struggled for funds, he asserted that states now have sufficient resources for salaries and development projects without resorting to bank loans. This newfound financial stability, he argued, is the primary reason politicians are gravitating towards the President’s camp.

The recent defections of Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu and Douye Diri of Bayelsa, along with numerous state lawmakers, lend weight to this ongoing political shift.
