Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 The Ultimate, has publicly apologised following the unruly incident that occurred on August 5, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Addressing journalists, the 68-year-old veteran described the episode as “highly regrettable,” noting that it was unbecoming of someone who has dedicated over 50 years to promoting Nigeria’s art, culture, and image globally.
“Somebody like me should not be found in such incidents,” KWAM 1 said, taking full responsibility and appealing for forgiveness from President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), airline staff, passengers, and his fans worldwide.
Explaining the events, he said he had passed through two security checks where his cup was screened and later filled it with water in the lounge due to a health condition that requires constant hydration.
“I seek forgiveness… my love for the country is unshakable. I am still the darling ambassador of our nation and will continue to carry the banner of this great country everywhere,” he affirmed.
KWAM 1, a long-standing cultural ambassador, remains at the centre of an ongoing NCAA investigation, with the authority already placing him on a six-month domestic no-flight list.
