Emperor of Afrobeats Burna Boy has reached 58 million monthly listeners on Spotify, setting a new all-time high for any African artist on the platform and extending his lead as the continent’s most-streamed act.
The surge arrives on the back of “Dai Dai,” his collaboration with Colombian pop star Shakira that serves as the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The track has dominated international charts and driven millions of daily streams, pushing Burna Boy into the global top 50 artists by monthly listeners on Spotify.
The figure eclipses the previous African record of 46.58 million monthly listeners held by South African singer Tyla. Nigerian stars Wizkid and Davido also trail the new benchmark, solidifying Burna Boy’s position at the top of Africa’s streaming hierarchy.
Spotify last updated the artist’s public metrics on Tuesday, confirming the 58-million mark. The platform has not yet released a country-by-country breakdown of the listening data.
“Dai Dai” is expected to be submitted for Grammy consideration in the Best Global Music Performance category when the eligibility window closes later this year.
