Nigeria has officially confirmed its participation in the 62nd International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in 2028 under the “Nigeria Everywhere” initiative, marking a strategic return to one of the world’s most prestigious art platforms.
Richard Vedelago, founder and lead curator of Windsor Gallery, has been appointed to lead the curatorial vision for Nigeria’s Pavilion at Biennale Arte 2028.
The announcement, made two years ahead of the event, signals a clear strategic intent to deepen curatorial rigour and forge stronger international partnerships.
“Venice 2028 is not simply a return. It is a confident assertion of Nigeria’s cultural sovereignty and a powerful contribution to shaping the global narrative around contemporary African creativity,” organisers stated.
The early announcement allows for meticulous planning and positions Nigeria to present a pavilion defined by intellectual clarity and artistic excellence.
This bold step advances Nigeria’s global cultural presence while showcasing the depth and dynamism of contemporary Nigerian art on the world stage.
