Afrobeats icon Tiwa Savage has cemented her legacy beyond music by launching the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation in partnership with her alma mater, Berklee College of Music, bringing the world-renowned institution’s teaching methodology to Lagos for the first time.

The four-day “Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program” will run from April 23–26, 2026, training 100 emerging African creatives in performance, songwriting, production, and music business. The programme is tuition-free for selected participants, removing financial barriers that often exclude African talent from world-class education.
“This is what I’ve wanted to do for years,” Savage said. “Berklee changed my perspective on music and the business behind it. Bringing this programme home to Nigeria at such an exciting time for our industry means everything to me.”
Building the Architects Behind the Sound
Savage’s vision extends beyond performers to the entire creative ecosystem. “An industry cannot stand on artists alone,” she declared at the launch. “Behind every global sound are producers, engineers, publishers, and innovators. If we do not intentionally develop them, we weaken the house we are trying to grow.”
Her commitment to nurturing talent reflects a career defined by lifting others. From her early days writing for Whitney Houston to becoming the first woman to win Best African Act at the MTV EMAs, Savage has consistently used her platform to create pathways.
Now, through this historic Berklee partnership, she is ensuring the next generation of Nigerian talent has the tools to thrive on the world stage.
