Ahmadu Bello University’s best graduate Ayodele Babalola wins ₦10 million prize

In a historic achievement, Ayodele Joseph Babalola has been named the Overall Best Graduating Student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, for the 2026 convocation cycle.

The Computer Science graduate achieved a near-perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.92 out of 5.0.

For his record-breaking performance, Babalola was awarded a ₦10 million scholarship prize through the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Program (SEPP).

He led an exceptionally competitive class, narrowly surpassing Fatima Umar Lapai from Agriculture (4.91 CGPA).

The achievement has ignited celebration online, with many applauding the substantial reward as a positive step toward valuing academic excellence in Nigeria.

Babalola, described by peers as a student of “focus, faith, and resilience,” continues ABU’s legacy of producing top-tier talent, following in the footsteps of previous record-holders.
