The University of Lagos has inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art restroom facility at its Faculty of Engineering, donated by Midas Interiors Limited to support student and staff welfare.
Mabel funds UNILAG restroom upgrade through her Midas Interiors
The facility, commissioned on November 27, 2025, replaces an outdated structure in the Department of Chemical Engineering. It introduces improved hygiene standards, contemporary fittings, and enhanced functionality.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola personally unveiled the project, commending the donor, CEO Mabel Makun, for her thoughtful gesture. She emphasised the critical link between a conducive environment and student development, stating, “You can not place people in an unpleasant environment and expect them to grow with decency.”
Mrs Makun, whose company has over 12 years of design experience, described the project as a purposeful intervention inspired by UNILAG’s status as Nigeria’s top-ranked university.
The upgrade is welcomed by students and staff, addressing long-standing convenience and sanitation challenges while reflecting the university’s commitment to spaces that promote dignity and excellence.
